FAQs
during a therapy session with Mark, you can expect a safe and confidential environment where you can openly discuss arising thoughts and feelings. your coach will listen actively, working collaboratively with you to explore, through invitations, any insights and solutions that emerge. the focus is always to seek forward motion and promote personal growth.
Coaching is a relationship between the coach and thinker(s) in a future-focused, solutions-based partnership aimed at maximising the client’s potential. Instead of handing you answers, a coach uses deep listening and powerful questioning to help you clarify your goals, overcome internal ‘obstacles’. Instead of focusing on the past “what“, coaching uses past events to add significance in the present “now” and to help shape the future “where“. This happens through gaining clarity around direction, actions and transformation, and alignment with your values
Client-Driven: You are treated as the expert in your own life – creative, resourceful and whole. The coach’s role is to guide the thinking process, not dictate the path
Future-Focused: Coaching starts from where you are right now and looks forward to where you want to go
Action-Oriented: It is about bridging the gap between current reality and future goals through structured planning and consistent accountability
Developmental: It focuses on increasing your self-awareness, personal agency, and problem-solving skills in
It is not Therapy: Therapy looks back to heal past trauma and focuses heavily on “why”. Coaching focuses on the present and future, focusing on “how”, looking forward to the “where”
It is not Consulting: Consultants are hired to provide specific, expert answers and fix the problem for you. Coaches empower you to find the answers yourself
It is not Mentoring: Mentors are typically seasoned veterans in your exact field who share their advice and tell you how they succeeded. A coach doesn’t need to be an expert in your industry
It is not Teaching/Training: Coaches do not lecture, grade you, or deliver a set curriculum as part of the coaching, but a trained coach may also possess the skills to deliver bespoke training on pre-arranged topics
I provide a range of coaching services tailored to individual and group needs. Each session is personalised to address specific concerns and promote overall well-being.
- Creating the conditions for greater self–awareness, self–understanding, and intentional action.
- Supporting leaders to align decisions and actions with their values, purpose, and sense of meaning.
- Helping clients uncover their own answers rather than providing solutions or advice.
- Helping clients navigate complexity, ambiguity, change, and difficult decisions with greater clarity and confidence.
- Providing both challenge and support, helping clients identify blind spots, assumptions, and unhelpful patterns.
- Recognising that leadership can be isolating and offering a trusted, impartial space for reflection and honest conversation.
- Seeking long–term transformation in how people lead, think, and relate to others, rather than simply solving immediate problems.
- A confidential thinking partnership where leaders can slow down and think clearly amid complexity and competing demands.
I help schools create cultures where people can thrive, not merely perform. Working with leaders, teams, and governing bodies, I support schools to align values with practice, build trust, strengthen relationships, enhance staff wellbeing, navigate cultural complexity, and develop the leadership capacity needed for long-term success. My approach combines practical leadership experience, coaching, governance insight, and a deep understanding of international and cross-cultural educational contexts.
LivingWorks® Suicide First Aid Training
“What if a member of staff notices something concerning but doesn’t know what to do?”
Organisations cannot prevent every crisis, but they can ensure that staff know how to recognise distress, respond with confidence, and connect people to the support they need. My experience within schools’ leadership looks at prevention, to look at both physical and non-physical space identifying early warning signs, policies and procedures that contribute to a safer, more supportive working or school environment.
LivingWorks® Suicide First Aid training provides what school or other organisation leaders need: practical, intervention–based skills that help staff have potentially life–saving conversations ideally to keep people safe for now.
Together, it’s a powerful combination. The result is greater confidence, stronger safeguarding capacity, and a culture where seeking help is seen as a strength rather than a stigma.
